REVOLVERS
Revolvers have been around since the early nineteenth century. Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing works on new, old, and antique single-action and double-action revolvers. With use, abuse, and over time, revolvers often go out of time or out of range: cylinders jam or cylinder holes gradually do not line up with the barrel creating a dangerous situation. Perhaps you inherited an old revolver from your grandfather and would like to know if it's safe to shoot. There's a lot that can go wrong with a revolver, but there is a lot we can do to bring it back to life. Besides, revolvers are said to be more reliable than semi-auto pistols, and everyone should have one.
SEMI-AUTO PISTOLS
Semi-auto pistols have been around since the beginning of the twentieth century and became the preferred sidearm of the U.S. Military from about 1911 to the mid1980s! The venerable Colt Model 1911 in .45 ACP has since been adapted to accommodate several different sizes and calibers that are still in production and popular in the military and commercial markets. Semi-auto pistols are basically either "hammer-fired" or "striker-fired." These pistols have proven their reliability through two world wars and for well over a century. However, over time, they do experience failures to load or failures to eject a cartridge, causing a jam that makes these firearms unreliable at best or inoperable at worst. Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing is well experienced in resolving those and many other issues that plague semi-auto pistols.
SHOTGUNS
Shotguns are among the most versatile firearms. Hunters use them for waterfowl and highland birds using bird shot; deer hunters use them with slugs. Shotguns are also used for home defense with 00 buckshot. They come in several varieties, single-shot, double-barreled, pump, and auto. They also come in several gauges (e.g., 28, 20, 16, 12 & 10, gauge), with the 12 gauge being the most common. Shotguns are pretty stout, but they do take a beating. Common problems include cycling, feeding live shells into battery, and extracting spent shells. Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing has enjoyed a good success rate in addressing these somewhat common issues.
RIFLES
Rifles are either centerfire or rimfire. Rimfire rifles are small-caliber firearms, whereas centerfire rifles are what is employed in larger-caliber guns. They commonly come in semi-auto, bolt action, and lever action varieties. Centerfire ammunition tends to be more expensive for rifles than other firearms, which results in that they are not fired as frequently as other guns. Nevertheless, the actions of centerfire rifles handle much higher pressures—especially magnum loads—which can prematurely induce wear and headspace. Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing has repaired a number of lever and bolt action rifles. However, the rifles we see are primarily for cleaning or scope mounting.
AR & AK RIFLES & Pistols
AR and AK rifles are ubiquitous and what someone imagines when thinking of a modern rifle. They are semi-automatic and come with 10-, 20-, or 30-round magazines. They are used for hunting, home defense, law enforcement, and in the military. Their modular design and interchangeable parts make them among the most popular firearms and ones that are easiest to personalize. Due to their popularity, manufacturers produce inexpensive ones that are often not worth repairing for the serious shooter or ones costing thousands of dollars that are treasured by competitive shooters and collectors alike. Here's a firearm where you usually get what you pay for. Aegis Pointe Gunsmithing would be happy to work with you in selecting or personalizing your AR or AK rifle. We'll even show you how to do it yourself! They're pretty fun and easy to work on.
